Air Freight Operations & Pricing Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Air Freight Operations & Pricing Specialist to join an
international freight forwarding team in Egelsbach, near Frankfurt. This position combines
operational responsibility for air freight shipments with pricing and quotation activities, ensuring
competitive solutions, smooth shipment handling, and a high level of customer service.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of air freight forwarding, enjoys working with
customers and international partners, and can balance operational efficiency with commercially
competitive pricing.
What to expect as an Air Freight Operations & Pricing Specialist?
Air Freight Operations
- Coordinate and manage air freight shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Handle import, export, and cross-trade shipments, ensuring all operational requirements are met
- Communicate with airlines, handling agents, overseas partners, transport providers and customers
- Prepare and check shipping documentation, including air waybills and relevant customs documents
- Monitor shipment progress, resolve operational issues, and keep customers informed of any changes
- Coordinate with customs brokers and other service providers to ensure timely and compliant shipment handling
- Ensure shipments are processed in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations
Pricing & Quotations
- Prepare competitive air freight quotations for import and export shipments
- Obtain and negotiate rates with airlines, co-loaders, agents, and other service providers
- Calculate freight costs, surcharges, and additional handling or transport charges
- Evaluate routing options, transit times, and service levels to identify the most suitable solutions for customers
- Respond to customer and internal pricing requests promptly and accurately
- Maintain up-to-date rate information and pricing records
- Support the commercial team with pricing strategies and cost-effective transport solutions
Customer Service & Cooperation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and international partners
- Coordinate closely with sales and operations colleagues to ensure consistent service delivery
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, pricing accuracy and customer satisfaction
What's expected
- Previous experience in air freight forwarding, ideally covering both operations and pricing
- Good knowledge of air freight import and export procedures and international shipping documentation
- Experience obtaining, calculating, and negotiating freight rates
- Understanding of airline pricing structures, freight surcharges, and routing options
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and quotations simultaneously
- Customer-oriented approach with good communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with freight forwarding software
- Good command of English and German, both written and spoken
