Branch Manager 

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Branch Manager to establish and lead our client's new Luxembourg branch. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious freight forwarding professional to build a business from the ground up, developing strong customer relationships while creating a high-performing operational team.


The successful candidate will have a proven background in international freight forwarding, with strong expertise in air freight, business development, and branch management. They will be responsible for driving profitable growth, ensuring operational excellence, and representing the company within the Luxembourg logistics market.

What to expect as a Branch Manager?

Key Responsibilities

 

Business Development

  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to establish the Luxembourg branch
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across air, sea and road freight services
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, partners and carriers
  • Generate profitable revenue growth while achieving agreed sales targets
  • Prepare customer quotations, negotiate contracts and manage key accounts
  • Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities

 

Branch Management 

  • Establish and develop the branch into a profitable operation
  • Recruit, develop and lead a high-performing team as the business grows
  • Create a culture focused on customer service, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Manage branch budgets, profitability and financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, local legislation and industry regulations

 

Operations

  • Oversee daily freight forwarding operations with a strong focus on air freight
  • Ensure shipments are handled efficiently, accurately and cost-effectively
  • Maintain excellent service levels and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor operational KPIs and implement improvements where required
  • Work closely with the wider European network to maximise business opportunities

 

Leadership

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management for branch employees
  • Foster collaboration across departments and international offices
  • Promote a positive and professional working environment

What's expected

Essential

  • Minimum 7–10 years' experience in international freight forwarding
  • Strong operational knowledge of air freight import and export
  • Demonstrated success in commercial sales and business development
  • Previous experience managing a freight forwarding branch or operational team
  • Established network within the Luxembourg logistics and freight forwarding market
  • Strong commercial awareness with proven P&L responsibility
  • Excellent negotiation and customer relationship management skills
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Valid driving licence

 

Desirable

  • Additional experience in sea freight and European road freight
  • Fluency in French and/or German. Luxembourgish would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of customs procedures and compliance requirements
  • Experience opening or growing a new freight forwarding office
